Single Rooms and Suites

VERY HOUSE was built in 1996 as an innovative experiment to encourage informal interaction between graduate and undergraduate students, and faculty.  It is the ideal environment for the single student who prefers the amenities of a modern residential hall and the convenience of a meal plan.  Single and double furnished rooms with shared bath are available to graduate students. Undergraduates live in the majority of rooms and there are 3 apartments for faculty-in-residence.

Central air conditioning & heating
Residents supply desk light, pillow, blankets, sheets bedspread, mattress pad, towels, etc.
Cats, dogs or uncaged pets are not permitted
Smoking is not allowed inside Avery
Personal refrigerators less than six cubic feet, small microwave ovens and cooking appliances without an exposed heating element are permitted in student rooms and
Electricity, gas, water, trash, ethernet included in room rental rates
Each room wired for telephone service to be arranged and paid for by resident
General maintenance performed by Caltech
Card-operated washers and dryers
Communal storage space available

Avery Graduate Meal Plan

All graduate students who reside in Avery House will be automatically enrolled in and charged for the Avery Graduate Meal Plan effective their move-in date.  The Avery Graduate Meal Plan consists of weekday dinner meals typically served in the House dining hall ("Contract Meals"), as well as access to Open Kitchen.  Contract Meals are served during the academic term 5 (five) days a week (Monday through Friday), except on Institute Holidays.  No credit is given for missed Contract Meals.  Contract Meals are not transferable.
