Fall 2009 Lottery Results

Updated on August 14, 2009

Lottery Information

The Guaranteed Housing Cut-Off is rank number 172

Due to the high number of requests for 1 bedroom apartments (couples) we had to set the guaranteed housing cut-off at 172, but there is still space for families, Avery students and single students or groups.  Single students and groups between the rank numbers of 173 and 260 will be offered housing.  Families between 173 and 229 will be offered housing. Avery students between 173 and 311 will also be offered housing

Students that have requested to change locations or move in from non-Caltech housing will be receiving an email with an appointment time for Tuesday, May 19th to come in and choose their new assignment.  Not everyone that made the cut-off is eligible for their first choice of housing, so others that requested to squat may also be receiving an appointment to choose their fall housing assignment.  Everyone who has a guaranteed space will be receiving a full confirmation email with their fall assignment after May 20th.

If you are not part of the guaranteed cut-off, please check back here to see if there has been any movement on the wait list.  There is an “updated as of” date on the top left corner of the page.  Updates shall only be posted Monday through Friday.

Residents who did not enter the housing lottery or who did not make the guaranteed housing cut-off will be required to vacate their on-campus housing by the end of the 2008-09 housing contract, July 31, 2009.  Residents who are graduating this June or who plan to vacate before July 31st should advise the Housing Office at least 15 days before moving.  There is no contract cancellation fee for residents vacating during the summer period.

As indicated in the Fall 2009 Lottery Information, students that applied as a group or couple only receive one lottery number.  This is clearly displayed on the lottery list (by rank). Some people on the lottery rank list are displayed as "group", but they were assigned their own individual lottery number.  This is not a mistake.  These people applied for a preferred roommate group, but not as a LOTTERY GROUP, meaning they truly applied as a single person to receive their own individual lottery number.
